Gorgeous, French, bronze, figural face, peacock fan Napoleon III, fireplace screen. This fireplace screen is made of heavy, brass/ bronze. This isn't like the many others available from the early to mid century. Features intricate detailing of filigree cut-out on the fan insides and outside edges, larger finial and solid latches to lock the screen shut when not in use. There is a figural face of a woman on each side as well as a 3 dimensional leafy vine crawling up each side. The screen blades are very solid and so are the slides in which each blade is fasted to for sliding. This screen has a gorgeous patina so I chose not to polish it for that reason. This would make an exquisite addition to your fireplace.
Measurements: approx 27 tall and 10" wide when closed. 10" wide base. 7" depth. 40" wide when opened.

This fireplace screen is in beautiful antique condition. May have signs commensurate with age and use such as light surface scratches, dust, tarnish, polish residue, I didn't polish the screen because it has a gorgeous patina, which most people desire. It wears its age beautifully. If you prefer a shinier, bronze, this can easily be polished. This is an antique item so may need some lubrication for ease of opening and closing. No obvious damage.
